Why DiveSilver and Indepth Dive Jewelry?
We started Indepth Dive Jewelry because of our love of jewelry and love of scuba diving. However, we did not choose DiveSilver for just any reason. There are all sorts of diving/marine life themed jewelry available nowadays. Just have a look on the internet. However, when you do, look closely at the quality of the actual designs, beauty and the craftsmanship. We spent months researching sterling silver jewelry, gemstones, and marine-themed designs before approaching DiveSilver.
The DiveSilver Team
The DiveSilver Team has decades of experience, training, practice, skill, patience. They understand that it is often the smallest of details that can make all the difference. The Team consists of designers, model makers, casters, finishers, quality control inspectors, administrative staff, and customer service staff. The Head Office and manufacturing plant is in Samut Prakan, just South of Bangkok, have over Thai 70 staff. Many of whom have been working together at DiveSilver for 10-25 years or longer.
Why DiveSilver: Environmentally Friendly Jewelry
The health of the earth and its oceans are very much intertwined. If we are protecting one, then we are also protecting the other. Metal mining is one of the most environmentally destructive forms of mining there is. Thus, to help reduce the demand for newly mined materials, DiveSilver uses Created Gems when possible. As opposed to Natural Gems from mining. The Created Gems are once again sourced responsibly from companies with a similar mindset to DiveSilver.
DiveSilver is also very careful when it comes to paper and plastic. Paper Catalogues are now digital. The few which are printed are printed on recycled paper using recycled “white paper”, not glossy paper. In addition, small felt pouches are used instead of the traditional “cardboard box” typically used for purchased jewelry. In every aspect of the manufacturing and sales processes, plastic is avoided as much as possible.
The best way to ensure that the silver one uses is the highest quality sterling silver available is to “make it yourself”. And that is precisely what DiveSilver does. Sterling silver is mixed in-house and produces genuine .925 silver. The sterling silver produced is hypoallergenic and ALWAYS free from Nickel, Lead, and Cadmium.
Silver in Jewelry
“Pure silver” is difficult to make jewelry with as it is too soft, easily damaged and loses shape. Thus, one needs to add other metals to pure silver to make it harder and more durable, and suitable for use in jewelry. Sterling Silver consists of 92.5% silver and 7.5% mixed metals, most of which is copper. This is why Sterling Silver is commonly referred to as 925 Sterling Silver or just 925 Silver. Remember that genuine sterling silver will have a hallmark that identifies it as such. So, look for the number .925 stamped on the silver or the words STER, STERLING, STG or Sterling Silver. DiveSilver uses a “925” stamp.
Every three months, DiveSilver is “assayed”. An assay is an analysis to measure and test the composition of precious metals, specifically silver and gold. It is a way to ensure that the sterling silver produced meets the correct purity standards and content. While not a legal requirement, doing so provides International documented proof of quality. Consequently, DiveSilver has decades of monthly and quarterly Certificates of Authenticity. Something which very few Sterling Silver manufacturers anywhere in the world can provide.
Our Gemstone Policy
As mentioned, DiveSilver uses primarily created Gems as opposed to Natural Gems. The various gems that are used are carefully chosen. From there, the DiveSilver craftsmen then cut and inlay each stone for a perfect fit. 100% naturally mined stones are available by special request.
And every single piece of jewelry created is hand polished. The difference really is noticeable and something which cannot be emphasized enough.
Over 850 Jewelry Designs
When it comes to the actual jewelry designs, we have never seen or found sterling silver designs of such quality. Nor have we seen such a range of beautiful designs. There are currently over 850 DiveSilver designs, with more released every month.
DiveSilver has a team of superb graphic designers who make the initial designs. These then go to the “model makers” who carve each design in “wax”. A fascinating process to watch incidentally. This “model” then goes on to another department to make a rubber or latex mould. The mold is then used to “cast” the designs in “wax.” These then get attached to the “Casting Tree”, and the process continues its many steps with consistent QC and QA controls along the way. Each step is done by skilled people who genuinely love what they do and the quality they produce every step of the way.
Why DiveSilver: Custom Made Designs
DiveSilver also creates custom designs! For example, if you would like a pendant or ring with your company logo on it or some unique commissioned design, no problem, we can do it! Simply provide us with the basic idea, concept or design, and we will do the rest. Indepth Dive Jewelry has custom-made various jewelry pieces for our customers. Custom designs have proved especially popular with Resorts, Liveaboard companies and Dive Centers. As well as companies and people outside of the diving /marine world who love superbly designed personalized jewelry.
There are many more reasons why DiveSilver is such a high-value product, but to explain it entirely would mean explaining the whole manufacturing process. While we would love to do, as it is a fascinating process, we do not have space to do that here.
