Description
Sand dollars get their name from how they look. When dead, the skeletons of Sand Dollars often wash up on the beach, and usually white from being bleached by the sun. Centuries ago, beachcombers who found these thought they looked like old Spanish or American Dollar coins, so they called them Sand Dollars. Sand dollars are actually a species of flat, burrowing Sea Urchins, typically the size of a silver dollar. Some legends consider them coins lost by Mermaids who lived in the city of Atlantis.
These beautiful sterling silver hook earrings reminds of us of the oceans and the mysteries of the depth and shows our love of the underwater world. Wearing them is also a great way to meet other divers socially as they will probably guess you are a diver as well!
